Sometimes You Have to Get it Wrong in Order to Get it Right.

Everyone makes mistakes.  It’s important for us to let go of the need to always want to be right without doing our due diligence.  A major part of our growth is for us to not only accept when we’re wrong but to learn from those same wrongs, right?  So, what does it mean to be wrong and how can you correct it, going forward?

Whatever it means to you, just know that it’s okay to be wrong and what’s even better about it is that you have an opportunity to get it right.  Righting our wrongs can happen immediately or it can take a while.  It all depends on you.  Being wrong is part of the process to becoming better at anything; provided you learn from your mistakes along the way.  How we handle being wrong is a deciding factor in how far we go in life.

The first thing we must do is take accountability and that means acknowledging when we are wrong or offensive to someone.  It’s not necessary to take offense when someone calls you out in an effort to encourage you to be or do better or they offer constructive criticism.  Always consider the source or the messenger; don’t accept criticism from someone that you wouldn’t seek out or take advice from.  Sadly, not everyone has your best interest at heart and even worse some people will line you up just to see you fall.

It’s a fact that you’re going to get it wrong along the way.  What’s important is to not stay wrong — strive for excellence, NOT perfection.  If you think you’re right all of the time, then you limit yourself from truly getting it right when you’re actually wrong.  Making mistakes but finding and learning the lesson, in the process, can help break cultural and societal stereotypes and bring about change as a result.  Being wrong yet receptive to feedback sparks change and promotes evolution so don’t be afraid to make mistakes — it’ll be fine.  Sometimes you have to get it wrong in order to get it right!
