Be Your Best

Some people say, “To be the best, you must beat the best” and that’s actually a great way to look at things because it sets the bar which in turn allows you to set your personal goals.  But here’s another way to look at it; when you decide to be your best it puts you in a position to become the best teacher to someone.  Whether you believe it or not, people are always watching, and by you just being your best self you just might help them become a better version of themself.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with having a healthy, competitive nature about yourself but truthfully the only competition should be the person that you see when you look in the mirror.  Instead of trying to best someone else, take a shot at being better than you were the day before.  It’s that simple.  Put your blinders on and focus on you and your uniqueness.

Many times, we get caught up in what others are doing that we lose focus on ourselves.  How can you achieve greatness if you’re constantly watching the scoreboard or looking at the “clock” to see how much time you have left?  It may sound unimportant but strive to be 1% better each day — yes, ONE PERCENT!  Now it might sound oxymoronic, but it will require you to give, at a minimum, 100% effort.  In order to be your best, you just have to give your best.  Are you doing your best?

You can’t slack off and expect big results.  Being your best requires discipline and consistency; and believe it or not those are qualities that we are all endowed with or they can be cultivated with time.  If you disagree then here’s another perspective for you — think of your daily routine before heading to work and the way that you execute them.  Most likely you can verbally provide an itinerary without hesitation, right?  Building your mind, getting in better physical or financial shape, doing better in school or even growing your business requires discipline and consistency.  On the other hand, being unproductive requires consistency and discipline also.  The best choice is crystal clear.

Being unproductive is a choice and some individuals choose to do it every day without even noticing it.  It is quite possible to be the best at accomplishing great things or you can be the best at surrendering and living dormant or worse, falling off more and more and having life pass you by because of it.  If you chose the former, then that’s great!  Keep doing what you’re doing and it’s guaranteed to pay off as a result.  If the latter applies to you and, even better, it resonates then it’s up to you take the initiative to make the necessary changes for developing a better you.  You owe it to yourself!

Just know that whatever the external circumstances may be, your internal prowess is mightier than what comes your way.  It’s on you to cultivate it and mobilize yourself in order to be your best so go on and BE YOUR BEST!
