Q

What Do You See?

There’s a saying that goes “Some people see the glass as being half-empty and others see it as being half-full.”  Well, the world is your glass; what do you see when you leave your house? How do you explain your personal experiences to people when you’re having a conversation? Do you focus on all that is negative or feel like good things happen to everyone but you? We’re in a safe place so you can be honest with your answer to that last question. While we’re on the subject of perspective, have you ever thought about how having a negative outlook only affects you (that is, if you have a negative attitude) and more importantly how it can work its way into your life?

We all have a choice as to how we react to what we see and what happens to us, right? We’re all human and things happen that we may not necessarily agree with, or things happen that are beyond our control and in many cases the occurrence will bring about a natural reaction. Given the circumstance or situation, your reaction matters but what matters most is how you view the matter, going forward. Seeing yourself as the victim does not help the cause nor will it make it any better. It’s important to look deep and know that whatever it is it’s for your good – again, you may have to search deep within to recognize it.

I’d like to offer another way to look at it by asking; what’s something that happened in your life that you thought you’d never recover from? You might be going through it now. Life is a process, and we all are going through it – the process of life that is. I’m not saying downplay the situation at all, but I am recommending that you not look at it as being a victim but more like someone who now has experience in a certain area or even a survivor who can now offer hope and encouragement to others.

So, before you’re ready to go off the deep end and point out your misfortunes just pause for a moment and think about it – somewhere down the line it’ll all work out for your good.  It always does!
